Welcome to Nelly Rose Jewelry!

Hello! My name is Idanelly, and I’m the proud owner and designer behind Nelly Rose Jewelry, a handmade jewelry brand based in Plano, Texas. Originally from Miami, Florida, I now live here with my wonderful husband, our two sons, a tuxedo cat, a King Charles Cavalier, and an Irishdoodle.

My journey with polymer clay jewelry began in 2022, shortly after I recovered from my first bout with COVID-19. But to really tell this story, I need to take you back a few years to when I first fell in love with statement earrings.

Back then, my husband (who was my boyfriend at the time) and I were living together, and I was going through what I affectionately call my "Baublebar phase." I became obsessed with cute, decorative statement earrings—everything from Christmas-themed pieces to Mickey Mouse designs. These were more than just accessories to me; they were an expression of my personality and style.

As time went on, I received countless compliments on my earrings, and my husband began encouraging me to try making my own. Initially, I brushed off the idea, not sure how I could create something as cute as the Baublebar earrings I adored. But everything changed when I found myself isolated and recovering from COVID-19.

Stuck in bed with only my TV and iPhone for company, I spent hours scrolling through Instagram. At some point, a pair of polymer clay earrings caught my eye. I can't recall the exact pair, but I do remember how the Instagram algorithm soon began showing me more and more clay earring designs. I found myself captivated, spending hours discovering different makers and watching their behind-the-scenes reels. With each click, I became more convinced that I, too, could create beautiful polymer clay jewelry.

At the time, I didn’t have any hobbies, so I thought this could be a wonderful creative outlet. But deep down, my husband’s words kept echoing in my mind: “You should make your own earrings.” I also remembered my long-held dream of opening an Etsy shop—something I’d wanted to do since I first discovered Etsy in 2010 while planning my wedding. I knew then that I wanted to honor my grandmother by naming my shop after her, and though I had a few previous attempts with the name “Nelly Rose,” this time felt different.

So, I made my first purchase—some inexpensive polymer clay tools and supplies—and started experimenting with different shapes and colors. And that’s how my love for polymer clay jewelry began to deepen, leading me to create the unique, handmade pieces you see today.

But that’s just the beginning of my story. There’s so much more to share, and I can’t wait to take you along on this journey with me.
